Walmart's stock (WMT) edged lower despite announcing a strategic collaboration with OpenAI to provide AI training for its U.S. workforce. The retail giant aims to equip employees with certifications ranging from basic AI fluency to prompt engineering, targeting 10 million certified workers by 2030.

The initiative leverages OpenAI's newly launched certification program, an extension of its free Academy platform that has already trained 2 million users. CEO John Furner emphasized Walmart's belief that the future of retail hinges on human-tech synergy, stating the program will empower associates to harness AI tools directly in their roles.
